Biography



Si-Hui Tan is the Chief Science Officer at Horizon Quantum Computing where she is pursuing her ambition of making quantum computers a reality for everyone. Prior to joining Horizon, she had been Visiting Professor of the Niels Bohr International Academy at the University of Copenhagen, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Singapore University of Technology and Design, and Scientist at the A*STAR Data Storage Institute.

Tan holds a Bachelor of Science with honors in Physics from Caltech and PhD in Physics from MIT. She was the recipient of the prestigious MIT Presidential Fellowship. Her research interest is in quantum information science, which lies at the intersection of quantum mechanics and information theory. Tan has pioneered novel protocols that provides enhancements by harnessing quantum mechanical features, including cryptographic primitives for quantum networks and sensing primitives for quantum radar. She has co-authored papers in top peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Si-Hui was named to the SG100 Women in Tech 2021 list, and is on the College Advisory Board of the College of Science, Nanyang Technological University.

Si-Hui enjoys powerlifting, woodworking and hiking.
